CEECA

Church of England Employees & Clergy Advocates

Supporting employees, clergy and office holders within the Church of England. CEECA provides a forum for sharing workplace issues, promoting good employment practices, and advocating for the rights, dignity, and well-being of its members.

CoS

Church of Scotland

Representing employees and office holders within the Church of Scotland. The group provides a forum for discussion, support and advocacy on workplace and ministry-related issues affecting its members.

CinW

Church in Wales

A workplace group for members employed by or serving within the Church in Wales. The group seeks to promote fairness, good employment practices and mutual support across the Church's structures.

Cir

Church of Ireland

Supporting members employed by or serving within the Church of Ireland. The group provides a collective voice on employment, ministry and workplace wellbeing issues across the Church's structures.

AMFW

Association of Methodist

Bringing together employees, ministers and office holders connected with the Methodist Church. The AMFW promotes good practice, mutual support and collective action on matters affecting faith workers throughout the Methodist Connexion.

SEC

Scottish Episcopal

Representing employees and office holders within the Scottish Episcopal Church. The group supports members through workplace challenges and promotes fair and respectful employment practices.

RC

Roman Catholic

Supporting members employed by, or serving within, Roman Catholic dioceses, parishes, schools and associated organisations. The group advocates for fair treatment, dignity at work and effective representation for Catholic faith workers.

URC

United Reformed Church

A dedicated network for employees and office holders within the United Reformed Church. The group provides support, representation and a collective voice on employment, ministry and workplace issues affecting URC members.

UFC

Unitarian & Free Churches

Representing workers and office holders within Unitarian and other Free Church traditions. The group supports members on workplace matters and promotes collaboration, equality and fair treatment across diverse faith settings.

E

Ecumenical/Interfaith

Supporting members working in ecumenical partnerships, interfaith organisations and collaborative faith settings. The group recognises the diversity of modern faith workplaces and provides representation across organisational boundaries.

FOTC

Faiths other than Christian

Representing workers and office holders from non-Christian faith communities and organisations. The group promotes inclusion, equality and the recognition of the distinctive experiences of members working across different faith traditions.

FC

Free churches

A network for workers and office holders serving across independent and Free Church traditions. The group enables members to share experiences, access support and address common workplace concerns.

OC

Orthodox & Other Connexional

Supporting members working within Orthodox churches and other connexional or faith-based structures not represented elsewhere in the branch. The group provides a forum for collaboration, representation and mutual support on workplace matters.

All workplace groups contribute to the Faith Workers Branch's mission of promoting fairness, dignity, inclusion and good practice across faith-based workplaces and ministries.

Join Before You Need Us

Membership of the Faith Workers Branch is open to anyone who is ‘employed’ by, or accountable to, a faith organisation. This means anyone who is paid or holds some form of authorisation and is therefore subject to penalties if something goes wrong.

There are different levels of membership, each with different benefits depending on whether you are in training, or are full full-time, part-time, self-supporting, Student or retired. All members have access to the Branch’s helpline for advice, support and representation. Membership is open to all faith workers.

01 Join Unite Online

Go to join.unitetheunion.org. Enter your denominational body as employer, your church as workplace, and your named role as job.

02 Confirm Branch Code

When your membership arrives, contact the helpline to confirm you've been assigned to the Faith Workers Branch (LE/0631M) for specialist support.

03 Full Support After One Month

You're covered from day one for advice. After one month you gain access to full legal and representational support for any new issues.

Subscriptions vary according to income. Non-members can call the helpline for initial informal advice.

Who can become a member?

Membership levels

A level of membership for every situation

There are different levels of membership, each with different benefits depending on your situation. All members have access to the Branch Helpline for advice, support and representation.

Student or in training

For those preparing for faith work or ministry.

Full-time

For members in full-time faith work.

Part-time

For members working part-time for a faith organisation.

Self-supporting

For members who support themselves while serving.

Community

For community members connected to faith work.

Retired

For members who have retired from faith work.

Becoming a Workplace Rep

Workplace representatives are elected members who act on behalf of their colleagues. They can only represent members from their own workplace groups.

Training

Unite Faith Workers Branch offers free training courses for reps and members across the United Kingdom and Ireland. These courses aim to provide the very best service based on the Unite three-pillar strategy of Organising, International Solidarity and Politics.
